First up this week's featured lots is this very fine, very rare Vitellius AV Aureus from the collection of Z.P., Austria. Emperor for only eight months, Vitellius was extremely popular with the officers and soldiery through lavish extravagance and lax discipline. His short lived reign was characterised by excessive feasting and gambling. This fascinating piece hit a hammer price of £12,000.

Second this week is this extremely rare ancient Greek coin from a private UK collection. Traced back to Kition, a city-kingdom on the southern coast of Cyprus, this specimen offers a piece of history in the palm of your hands. It hit a hammer price of £5,500.

Tiberius III Apsimar AV Solidus

Next up we have this unique and unpublished Tiberius III Apsimar AV Solidus. Tiberius III was a Byzantine emperor from 698 to 705 AD, who was beheaded in Bithynia several months after being deposed by Justinian II. His body was initially thrown into the sea, and later recovered and buried on the island of Prote.

Our next featured lot is this fascinating North African Carthage BI Shekel attributed to the Libyan Revolt, circa 241-238 BC featuring the Head of Herakles to the left and a prowling lion to the right. This coin tells the rare story of the rebels and the Battle of 'The Saw' which effectively left Carthage penniless and weakened against a Roman Republic.
