This week we're highlighting some of our favourite lots from Adam's Asian Spring #1 Chinese & Himalayan Art Auction which took place on the 28th June 2022.
Up first this week is this beautiful famille verte 'Month' cup with Kangxi mark. The cup is delicately potted with flaring sides, with the exterior painted and enamelled to represent the sixth month with a mandarin duck swimming in a lotus pond. This lot completely eclipsed it's minimum estimate of €1,000, hitting a sensational hammer price of €33,000.
Second this week is this fascinating stone-embellished gilt copper alloy figure, which was formerly the property of Argentinian Diplomat Juan Carlos Katzenstein. The figure features the eleven-headed Avalokiteshvara, the earthly manifestation of the self-born eternal Buddha Amitabha.
Up next we have this stunning white Jade 'Melon & Butterfly' linked box and cover from the Qing Dynasty. This lidded box has been carved otu of a single piece of milky white jade, naturalistically shaped as a melon together with a butterfly and with entwined gnarled branches linking the box to its cover. Coming from the F.G. Collection of Jade Carvings, this lot had a fantastic hammer price of €15,000.
Our fourth favourite lot this week is this small copper red 'three mythical beasts' porcelain bottle vase, adorned in underglaze copper red against a white ground with three naturally rendered and lively mythical beasts: a fu Buddhistic lion, a pixiu and a bixie.
Our final featured lot this week is this molded porcelain figure of a sage, possibly representing ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi, who was the reputed author of the Tao Te Ching and the founder of philosophical Taoism. It's hammer price of €5,000 completely smashed it's €400 - €600 estimate.
